It’s Halloweekend, and Humboldt is here for it! Events and candy are everywhere to celebrate, and meanwhile, this clearly signals that the holiday season is upon us. Leaves are turning colors, falling and rustling in the wind, and a forecast of rain is in our week ahead. Read on for all of the ways to be out and about, whether you’re feeling like being a trickster, or if treating yourself is more the norm – it’s all happening in Humboldt this holiday weekend.

Friday, October 28th
10:30A-1:30P Local businesses can connect with CR students past and present and recruit future employees. CR’s Career Center and advisors will be on hand to assist students and employers in fulfilling job skill requirements through CR’s career education and certificate programs. This event is open to the whole community. Coffee and snacks will be offered. Grab lunch at our food truck after the event.

4P – This is a free clinic going over safety, conditions, gear, identification, and rigging. The event will also be on “Facebook Live” for anyone that can’t make it to Pacific Outfitters of Eureka.

For audiences 18 and over; must show a valid ID. Tickets are cash only. Discount of $1 with a costume or handbill. ~ This ain’t your mom’s spaghetti western! ~ At Gist Hall Theater

TLC HUMBOLDT OPEN HOUSE AND ARTISAN’S FAIR
10A-5P – Teach Learn Create Humboldt is a Dream Makers Project of the Ink People Center For The Arts. A makers and event space to benefit local artisans. Artisan Fair is at 2050 Peninsula Dr.
TRIB RESEARCH: STEW BY THE STREAM
1-4P We will be serving our version of Ghormeh Sabzi (Persian herb, bean and meat stew; we will also have a vegetarian version made with Sweet Fall squash) and flatbreads hot from the cob oven. We will also have apple cider available by the pint or quart. Biking to the event is highly encouraged. Please bring a bowl or a to-go container for your stew. Prices are on a sliding scale, $12-$20, and there won’t be advance ticket purchases for this event. Proceeds will support fisheries research into unique species and life history types found in Northern California and Southern Oregon.

Learn to make pom poms three different ways in three different sizes. Then string together your own pom pom garland perfect for a gift, gift wrapping or decoration. The workshop itself takes about an hour with an additional hour of open studio time to finish your project. Skills required: use scissors, tie basic knots. All tools and materials included!
