From family-friendly offerings like pumpkin patches and trunk-or-treats to heart-pounding haunted houses, corn mazes and movies, all the way to Halloween themed fundraisers and costumed happenings. Through 10/31 11A-6P – At Table Bluff Farm. Come on down to Fortuna’s Pumpkin Patch for the month of October! Free admission & pumpkins are priced by the pound. There will be pigs and goats to pet, too. This year, we also have a CORN MAZE! $5/person age 5 and up. Under 5 is free. There will be special events each weekend, so stay tuned!

10/27-11/2 4P-12A **LIMITED TICKETS** AVAILABLE FOR RESERVED TIME SLOTS!! All other tickets will be at the door. The 2nd Annual Scare-Tacular Haunted House, ‘A Trip in the Yucatan Gone Horribly Wrong!’ will be a unique experience that will harness the imagination and bring out the good spirits in all who visit us this Halloween season! This is an ALL-AGES Haunted House! We will have $5 little-kid friendly earlier time slots available and $15 spookier later time slots available (age 13 & over recommended). ‘A Trip in the Yucatan Gone Horribly Wrong’ haunted house will be more theatrical than most common haunted houses…but it’s going to be spooky, scary, and creative! This experience will take you through a guided tour in the Yucatán jungle in search of a missing family that was on kayaking trip on their vacation. There will be a Mayan Temple maze, eerie jungle scenes, scary actors, and performers in costumes ready to scare you throughout the whole experience!! We will have an onsite taco truck and our upstairs ballroom will serve as the waiting room and includes a beer and wine bar, ping pong tables and music on select nights! 10/31 3P Join us in Downtown Arcata for a fun and family-friendly Halloween Party on Arcata Plaza and with surrounding merchants! This year we invite folks from the community to sign up to decorate their trunks and help make the Trick or Treating extra fun. Cars will be parked on the closed 8th Street side of the plaza. Beginning 10/4 After school, every Tuesday in October – Calling all witches, ghouls, and young writers of creepy things. Unleash the spooky stories inside of you. Each workshop will help you develop writing techniques and you’ll have plenty of writing time to get your spine-tingling tales onto the page. On Tuesday, 10/25, we’ll have a small celebration and reading to creep each other out, just in time for Halloween!
ONGOING until 11/2 11A-9P – Arcata Main Street, in partnership with Los Bagels, Centro del Pueblo, El Centro Académico Cultural, Playhouse Arts, Jacoby’s Storehouse, and the City of Arcata, invite you to come celebrate Dia de los Muertos. There is a downtown Ofrenda at Jacoby’s Storehouse October 23rd-November 2nd. Bring pictures, decorations, and learn the traditions of this community alter. All are welcome!
10/27-10/31 – The carnival is back in town…and something has gone horribly wrong. Mayhem at Macktown presents: Dark and Grimmly’s Carnival of Fear, a terrifying experience not for the faint of heart. In the McKinleyville High School Multipurpose Room: Doors open at 6:30, and close at 10. Tickets are $10, all proceeds benefit MHS Drama. While you wait for us to terrorize your soul, you can also play a game, or enjoy a tasty treat! Dark and Grimmly’s Carnival of Fear! Fun, Food, and Abject Horror!
10/28 6-9:30P Whale Gulch School PiE invites you for a night of fun, food and karaoke! The Sisters Arredondo will be serving up some delicious Mexican dinner, while Host Roland keeps the music rolling. Dress to impress for the Costume Contest! All proceeds from dinner go to funding WGS art, yoga, drama, music, “snack” programs and field trips. Shelter Cove Campground & Deli will have the Buoy Bar open for refreshments.

Start the quest at the Humboldt Coastal Nature Center, 220 Stamps Lane in Manila, there you will find Sand Hopper Helpers that will give you a treasure map. Follow the map and learn about the incredible biodiversity and ecology of the dunes. Complete the quest and receive magical ocean treasure. Costumes are strongly encouraged! Drop in anytime between 11am and 1 pm. This is a free, Spanish bilingual event geared for families with young children (ages 3-10). This event will take place outside. 10/31 6:30-8:30P The Dows Prairie Grange is hosting a free Halloween carnival for children 12 and under. This will be their 25th year hosting this annual McKinleyville event although the previous two years during Covid, the Grange hosted a drive-thru event for the kids. There will be lots of carnival games, a witch’s kitchen cooking up spooky popcorn, fortune telling, photo opportunities as well as lots of candy and prizes. Community members are encouraged to bring canned food or other non-perishables to support Grange’s holiday food basket program to serve those in need.
11A-3P – Ongoing event happening all Fall! Bring your apples, containers and some friends. First come first serve. Donations accepted for use of our gear and labor.

11/2, 4-8P – Join us in celebrating our ancestors in this free community event in old town eureka. We will be honoring our loved ones in this Latinx Celebration with Día de Muertos Festival of Altars. There will be family Ofrendas, themed Ofrendas, & 1 larger community altar in the gazebo at the old town square. With Music, Dance, & Food + Face painting. (But please no costumes, this is a traditional, sacred cultural event) We are looking for volunteers NOW! This is a free community event put on by the community. We are looking for individuals or families to build family Ofrendas/altars. + We need volunteers with set up the day of. + We can always use help spreading the word! We welcome all people & nations. But please respect this cultural event, No alcohol or drugs. Family friendly.

10/28 Looking for something fun and spooktacular to do Halloween weekend? Join the Clarke and Haunted History Tours for Tea & Spirits, a Roaring Twenties jazz-themed cocktail party! Humboldt Distillery and Dutch & Dewey are creating tea-themed cocktails for your enjoyment, and locally-sourced hors d’oeuvres will be served. Mocktails and other non-alcoholic beverages will be on hand for designated drivers. Tickets for this over-21 event include two drinks and a 45-minute walking tour led by Eric Vollmers of Haunted History Tours, Eureka’s only authorized Ghost Tour. Learn about Old Town’s bawdy past and the spooky residents who are still around today! There will be music from Young and Lovely, a jazz quintet featuring the vocals of three Penner siblings Elisa, Brianna, and Devin. 10/28 9P 2nd Annual SAC Halloween Bash will be headlined by Destroy Boys! They are a San Francisco-based punk band identifying as majority female, non-binary, LGBTQA+, and POC. Destroy Boys are known as a band that uses their platform to be outspoken advocates for a myriad of social justice issues, especially when it comes to racial equality, LGBTQA+ rights and inclusion for all. The punk trio have been redefining West Coast punk over three albums. Opening the show will be the shoegaze and punk influenced band Margaritas Podridas from México.
10/29 – A non-profit benefit for KMUD and The Mattel, featuring Perro Bravo from So.Cal and Hijinx from Santa Cruz. Costume Contest with prizes. An all ages event, dinner is at 7P, full bar for 21+.

Scotia Lodge is hosting a historic and slightly spooky tour of the 100 year old Scotia Lodge in Scotia, Ca. Learn about the past, present, and future iterations of this great lodge and nearby historic company town. Friday, November 4th the Mateel hosts a Dia De Los Muertos/Day of the Dead event with Humboldt’s own red hot Cumbia band Makenu plus Latin beats from DJ Amaru Chia, doors are at 7pm. Dinner will be served from the Mateel kitchen, and a full bar will serve those 21 and over. Tickets are on sale now for $10 both in advance through Eventbrite and at the door.
