2P Rochelle Halligan, Master Gardener, will speak to the Ferndale Garden Club about her passion, Ecological Pond Design. Establish the right plants in your pond and do without mechanical pumping. Rochelle will tell us how. Slide lecture. At Town Hall Ferndale, 834 Main Street, Ferndale, CA. Please use north-west Main Street entrance ramp to parlor. Rochelle replanted the pond at the Ferndale Fairgrounds this year with moss, logs and floating plants. She will show us how to make that amazing pond transformation in her talk. THE TERRITORY (2022) BENEFIT SCREENING
7-8:30P Two nights only (also 10/14). Winner of both the Audience and Jury awards for World Documentary at Sundance this year, The Territory (prod. Darren Aronovsky) provides an immersive on-the-ground look at the tireless fight of the Indigenous Uru-eu-wau-wau people against encroaching deforestation brought by farmers and illegal settlers in the Brazilian Amazon. Partially shot by the Uru-eu-wau-wau people, the community risks their lives to set up their own news media team in the hopes of exposing the truth. LIMITED SEATING, $10 tickets MUST be bought in advance. All proceeds will be donated to KANINDÉ (the indigenous-led Brazilian nonprofit featured in the film).
