On Saturday, Eureka is host to the second annual Skate Fest – while Henderson Center invites you to stay a while to enjoy their neighborhood wide block party! And, if you’re heading up from SoHum… you might as well check out the Fortuna Pastels in the Park on your way.
Sunday has a bit of a “Garden Theme” with a scheduled tour of eight gardens in Eureka and the hit Summer Concert Series ft. Reggae Music in the amphitheater of the Botanical Gardens.
All of this in addition to Arts! Alive in Arcata, artisan markets, a bunch of live music AND things to do with the kids. Seriously… there’s a lot going on this weekend… so read ahead and plan yourself a little local weekend tour!
SPECIAL EVENTS THIS WEEKEND…
FRIDAY JUNE 10TH
ARTS! ARCATA
4P, Come see the arts all around downtown Arcata for the 2nd Friday Arts! Arcata. Music, vending, and fun in the plaza center circle, and live painting, demonstrations, gallery showings, music, and fun in stores, galleries, and eateries across downtown. Come downtown, explore, and enjoy!

HUMBOLDT ROLLER DERBY MIXER
4P, Join Humboldt Roller Derby for a community mixer in celebration of their return to the track after a two-year hiatus! Skaters, officials, volunteers, family, friends, future skaters and fans are invited for an evening of fun with HRD merch for sale, a raffle and space for you to bust out your own skates (or inlines or skateboards!), all against the beautiful backdrop of Samoa Field. This is a casual family friendly event hosted at Humboldt Bay Social Club.
OUTER ROOMINATIONS (LOLETA)
5-9P, Outer Roominations returns to The Bluff in Loleta with over 30 artists creating site specific works in relation to fields, trails, trees, and vistas. The works only live for this short weekend, so this is your chance to come experience the wonder. Stay and have a picnic, wander the trails (hiking shoes/boots recommended), play with the land and with the wild world.

HUMBOLDT CRABS BASEBALL VS. SLO BLUES
7P, Humboldt Crabs vs San Luis Obispo Blues, featuring the World Famous Crab Grass Band! Grab your tickets at Wildberries and head on down to the Arcata Ball Park and root on the home team for a home run!

OMBOLDT: YOGA FEST 2022
8A-8P, A two day experience of indoor yoga classes, workshops, sound healing and keynote speakers with additional outdoor shopping, live music, food, drinks, performances and community.

FORTUNA PASTELS IN THE PARK
10A, Fifty total 10×10 foot sidewalk squares are available at a cost of $50 each, and the pastel kits are provided. Prizes for the top-5 most-artistic plots will receive prizes. Join everyone for this family-friendly creative event at Newburg Park in Fortuna. 707-725-7620
HENDERSON CENTER BLOCK PARTY
10A-3P, Friendly Henderson Center’s Merchant Association (HCMA) is throwing a big Block Party for the neighborhood and raising money to spruce up Henderson Center at the same time. Music, games, raffles, and participation from local businesses will have this busy Eureka neighborhood popping all afternoon, bring a lawn chair or picnic blanket and hang out for a while!
Activities will be happening between D and H Streets and Henderson and Harris Streets in Eureka.

NORTHCOAST OPEN-STUDIO ANNUAL TOUR (WEEK TWO)
10A-5P, North Coast Open Studios is an annual countywide community art event where artists open their creative spaces to the public, showcasing both finished pieces and works in progress. There is no fee to visit any artist’s studio. Please check out the official website here to get the map and plan your very own local art tour. ( …this is the final weekend, so don’t miss out!)
HUMBOLDT SKATE FEST 2
12N-6P, Join Rampart Skatepark for the Second Annual Humboldt Skate Fest! This event will feature a KEG JUMP for the main attraction, along with a sticker slap contest on the slam wall, a best trick contest, live music, yoga for skaters and more! This is an annual event and will be fun for the whole family (Dad chaperone approved… there’s a beer garden, too).

3:30P, The local chapter of the national student-led March For Our Lives organization’s march to bring awareness to gun violence. All are welcome to join.
ARCATA QUEER PROM
6-10P, Youth between the ages of 15-20 years old can come to this event and enjoy raffle prizes, music & dancing, arts & crafts, food, face painting, music & dancing, tarot & oracle readings, photo booth, awesome community resources, along with free prom clothes and make-up provided. HUMBOLDT BOTANICAL GARDENS SUMMER MUSIC SERIES ft. IRIE ROCKERS
1-3P, Catch some reggae tunes at the beautiful botanical gardens this weekend! This venue is a little known local gem, which boasts a natural outdoor amphitheater surrounded by the gardens in a coastal setting. This is a rescheduled date that was previously cancelled due to rain. Food will be available by Stephanie’s Home Cooking.

SUMMER AT THE SANCTUARY
6P, A celebration of teachers and summertime hosted by Sean Pitney. The night will feature music by Wild Abandon, Swingo Domingo, and Los Perdidos, as well as live poetry by Word Humboldt Poets. ($15-$25 sliding scale yet this Community art center won’t turn anyone away due to lack of funds.) 1301 J street in Arcata.
HERITAGE GARDEN TOUR
12N-5P, Tour begins at 1000 F St. There are eight gardens on the tour, including the Annie B. There will music, artists, food, drink and a pop up garden store.

Humboldt County has a great rotation of weekly Comedy shows and karaoke nights if you want to get your fill of laughs and sweet moves… Richard’s Goat is bumping house music on Friday, and Cornell Reid Headlines the Comedy Club on Fri/Sat, just to name a few!
