The fourth of July may have been a little more grey than most of us anticipated, but it seems it was still a fun and safe time for most… luckily there is a lot of fun and sunshine to be had this weekend in Humboldt County!
The Lost Coast Kennel Club is back after a two year break for their annual dog show at the Humboldt County Fairgrounds which starts on Friday… Saturday is stacked with festivities like Henderson Center’s Western Days and Willow Creek’s famous Bigfoot Days! Closing out this action packed weekend, Blue Lake hosts their favorite celebration of the Summer with Annie & Mary Days music and art show in Perigot Park that directly follows the Bill Nessler Car Show & Cruise…

FRIDAY JULY 8TH
LOST COAST KENNEL CLUB DOG SHOW
7A-7P, Lost Coast Kennel Club will be hosting our twice postponed 20th anniversary shows – Conformation, Obedience, Rally, plus FCATs at the Humboldt County Fairgrounds 1250 Fifth Street in Ferndale.
ARTS! ARCATA
4-8P, Arcata’s downtown celebration of community, local businesses and artists happening this week and every second Friday monthly. It’s always a hoot, so be sure to make time to check it out!
DOG CBD CARNIVAL
4-8P, Bring your furry friend for an evening of sampling CBD products for dogs, including dog CBD tincture, dog CBD paw salve, and dog CBD treats!! Meanwhile, DJ Lassie will be spinning a DJ set of music made specifically to relax dogs!! Fun for the humans too. A special event at Infuzions on the Plaza during Arcata’s Arts! Alive.
MEET THE ORION STARBLAST TELESCOPE
5-7P, Meet Humboldt County Library’s latest addition and the Astronomers of Humboldt who made it possible. Hear how you can check it out, much like a book. All you need to view the universe is a library card. (707) 822-5954
BODY LANGUAGE AT THE SANCTUARY
6-9P, This show will feature both functional and wall-hanging ceramic art. Using colored porcelain, this work explores the complexity of individual histories and the profound capacity of the human form – Free Exhibition at the Sanctuary in Arcata.

10A-3P, Henderson Center Merchants Association presents, Western Days. Western Music, games for the kids, vendor booths, popcorn , snow cones, candy & more. A western themed photo booth. 50/50 drawing. Bring a lawn chair and come join the fun 🙂 Between D & H streets and Henderson & Harris streets.
A STEWARDSHIP HIKE & GEOLOGY TALK
10A, Participants will be treated to a dynamic discussion about the latest in stream restoration, and we’ll learn about the geology of the Mattole headwaters along the way. Meet at 10am at the Sanctuary Forest office and bring lunch, water and sturdy shoes for this Easy-to-Moderate tour.
BIGFOOT DAZE 2022
11A-5P, The 60th annual Bigfoot Daze celebration starts off with the Parade in town at 10am followed by an Ice-Cream Social hosted by the Willow Creek- China Flat Museum. Festival of music, vendor booths and kids’ activities at Veteran’s Park. Free fun for all!
SAND SCLUPTURE FESTIVAL LAUNCH PARTY
11A-5P, Bring your sunglasses and sun-hats to view this year’s five selected sculpting teams. This summer event will launch an entire month during which you and your team of sand-sculpting superstars can compete in the 27th Annual Sand Sculpture Festival as a dispersed event, up and down the Humboldt coast.

6-8:30P, Meet Zoo Keepers and see more up-close animal experiences than ever before! Explore the Redwood Sky Walk at twilight, sip artfully designed specialty cocktails and mocktails featuring locally distilled spirits with all beverages included at Zoo-themed open bars. HEALING THE CREATIVE WOUND PAINTING WORKSHOP
6:30P, Get awesome ideas for creative projects and freeze when you sit down to start them? In this workshop, you’ll explore how the well worn stories around your creativity came to be and begin the process of releasing those beliefs so you can fully tap into your creative spirit. Workshop fee of $77 includes all materials to create a painting to mark the experience and your first step in reclaiming your connection to creativity! Three hour workshop at Redwood Retro in Eureka!

11A-5P, This community wide Blue Lake event brings people together in an atmosphere that encompasses old time fun and revelry. The annual event features a parade, music, food & drink, car and craft show! Parade starts at 11:00 and proceeds to Perigot Park between the hours of noon to 5P for celebrations including over 40 great craft vendors, live music and other types of family fun!
REDWOOD PARK ‘DO NOTHING DAY’
1-7P, You’re invited to Redwood Park in Arcata to ‘do nothing’ while enjoying free snacks, drinks, free-to-use hammocks, art supplies, games, books, etc. You’re welcome to bring shareables or just your sweet self! Look for the hammock pod and blankets
ARCATA PLAZA SUMMER CONCERT SERIES
2-4P, Arcata Main Street proudly presents a Summer Concert Series to bring music to our Arcata Plaza lawn weekly for ten weeks. Featuring all-local talent, this is a fun free afternoon event for the whole family to enjoy in downtown Arcata.
