NORTH COAST MUSIC TOGETHER FAMILY LITERACY LIBRARY TOUR
10:30-11:30A Enjoy singing, keeping a beat, participating with confidence in music and having fun. Playing is learning with Northcoast Music Together. Each attendee gets a free book.
4-9P Garberville Town Square will be hosting a celebration of local art and artists for Arts Alive. After 5P a fabulous farm to table Mediterranean dinner with gluten free options will be available, as well as local Gyppo beer, Humboldt Cider, and wines at our sweets & libations bar which will include non-alcoholic drinks and a variety of delicious desserts to choose from! We will have stellar entertainment by the Funnicators, Emily Totten, Feet First and Recycled Youth dance performances, and live painting by Laci Dane! Join us to celebrate Garberville Alive.
MURAL UNVEILING PARTY AND CRAFT FAIR
6-9P Celebrate the unveiling of Arcata’s newest mural, “Humboldt Magic” on the corner of Eighth and K streets. The mural, designed by Redwood Coast Montessori students under the direction of Art Educator Sasha Lyth and student teacher Caroline Voorhees, and in partnership with Cal-Poly Humboldt Art Education students and numerous community volunteers, spans 140 feet long by 20 feet tall. There will be music, craft tables and food by the Los Giles Taco truck.
6-8P Northtown Books welcomes Rees Hughes to present his new book, Hiking Humboldt Kids. Built for use with kids, this book will inspire family adventures with authentic experiences in nature that develop wonder in children and adults alike. Research shows us that these shared experiences in early childhood have valuable and long-lasting positive effects on our health and well being.

LOLETA COMMUNITY WIDE YARD SALES
8A Come find a treasure! Yard Sales all over the Loleta Community. Pick up a Map of the sales at Loleta Community Church, 218 Church St the day if the event.
10A-2P Free, fun activities for all ages. Drop-in anytime and pick up your free activity book and visit all the stations to earn awards and prizes! Explore the Shorebird Loop Trail and learn about conservation principles, skills and tools that conservationists use to protect animal and plant species. Find out how wildlife is monitored and tracked, see habitat restoration in progress and much, much more!
EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS OPEN HOUSE
10A-2P The Community Emergency Response Team of Ferndale presents this Open House to provide the public with tools to fully prepare for the next natural disaster.
HUMBOLDT JUNKIES VINTAGE MARKET
10A-3P Browse vintage decor at the Friday night Junk Jubilee and Saturday market and trailer rally. Food and drinks available for purchase. Admission, $5 – free for kids 12 and under. At the Barn by Fernbridge.
REDWOOD PRIDE FESTIVAL AND PARADE
10A-4P All-ages event with vendors and performers at Jefferson Community Center followed by a parade in Old Town and an 18 and up event at Synapsis at 8 p.m. with a cover charge of $20.
10A-5P The 33rd annual celebration of local food, drinks, music and aquaculture of Humboldt Bay. Kids zone, art market, music and dancing, oysters and food vendors, nonprofits and contests.
10A-5P A countywide community art event featuring artists and artisan manufacturers of all ages and all media. Visit artists’ studios and experience the creative process, and take home some original art. The event starts on Friday, is happening on Saturdays and Sundays 10A-5P, and is ongoing through 6/11.
SINGING AND SONG WRITING WITH LORENZA SIMMONS-PHILLIPS
11A-2P Learn simple songs and rounds with a capella and with piano, and write your own short song at this Family Literacy Party event. Participants get a free book.
11A-3P The public is invited to join Henderson Center Merchants for their annual Block Party. According to Association President, Jack Rieke, the Block Party is a great time for all. Rieke added, “You can come listen to free music, enjoy a free hot dog, browse through the many stores and booths that will be available, play some fun games and help Henderson Center raise money for a trolley & other Henderson Center needs at the same time.” New this year participants can look for a 4X6 “trolley” postcard that will be hidden in participating stores. Everyone who finds a postcard can enter the drawing for 10 different prizes! The public can purchase 50/50 tickets from participating merchants the week prior to the event and on the day of the event. Whoever’s ticket is drawn will win 50% of the pot! The other 50% will be retained by Henderson Center Merchants Association to help fund the purchase of a trolley & other Henderson Center needs. Bring a lawn chair and your neighbors, and come enjoy the music and fun! Henderson Center is located between D and H Streets and Henderson and Harris Streets in Eureka! CLARK MUSEUM’S OLD TOWN EUREKA TOURS
1P – ONGOING, Saturdays through 9/2 The City of Eureka Community Services Department is once again hosting a walking tour of Old Town! Please join us for a fascinating, ‘behind the scenes’ look at the history of this fascinating and historic area. Tours will take place each Saturday from June 10th through September 2nd starting at 12pm. To begin the tour meet at the Clarke Museum (240 E St). 1P – ONGOING, Saturdays through 9/24 – Join interpreter William on an hour-long walking tour of the park. Meet at the flag pole next to the parking lot. Learn about the history of the 19th century military outpost and the role it played in trying to stand between two opposing cultures.
ELK RIVER RESTORATION UP FOR DISCUSSION
2-4P Can Elk River recover clear water? Pre-1987 flooding levels? Returning salmon? Join Katy Gurin as she presents Cal-Trout’s Elk River Recovery Plan. Masks are recommended. Dress warmly as windows will be open to the bay breezes.
CHALLENGE OF CHAMPIONS BULL RIDING EVENT
7-10P Don’t miss, for the first time at Redwood Acres, The Challenge of Champions Bull Riding Event. Action packed and up close and personal in the “Down & Dirty” arena side seating. BOOK LAUNCH: THE GHOST FOREST BY GREG KING
7-8:30P Join us to celebrate the release of The Ghost Forest: Racists, Radicals, and Real Estate in the California Redwoods. This book (published June 6th by Public Affairs) is the definitive story of the coastal California redwoods, their discovery and their exploitation, as told by an activist who fought to protect their existence against those determined to cut them down. King will give a presentation of his activism to save Headwaters Forest, as well as the history of redwood logging and preservation efforts going back nineteenth century. Signed copies for sale at the event by Eureka Books.

10A-5P A countywide community art event featuring artists and artisan manufacturers of all ages and all media. Visit artists’ studios and experience the creative process, and take home some original art. The event starts on Friday, is happening on Saturdays and Sundays 10A-5P, and is ongoing through 6/11.
12-6P Fortuna Rotary is hosting Art & Wine in the Park at Fortuna Rohner Park. Come enjoy wine sampling, interactive art activities, shopping for local art, live music and food! It is free for admission. Open to all ages. A commemorative glass, art activity ticket and wine sampling tickets are available for $35. The proceeds from this fundraiser are used to support the local community. Fortuna Rotary is still accepting vendor applications. HUMBOLDT ROSE SOCIETY ROSE SHOW
1-4P The Humboldt Rose Society is holding its annual rose show at Redwood Acres. Do you have a prize-winning rose? Enter it in the Humboldt Rose Society Rose Show. There is also a photo contest and the public is encouraged to enter either their roses or their photos of roses. Do you want to know which roses do best in Humboldt County? Come to the Rose Show and see which roses thrive in our coastal maritime climate or hot mountain climate. Submit roses for judging by 10A. Don’t know what type of rose you have? Experts will be present to help ID it. Never shown a rose before? The rosarians will help you display it. There are monetary prizes for all trophy and certificate winners. There will be two presentations; one on hybridizing roses and another on soil health with live soil critters wiggling around. The show is open to the public from 1P to 4P. In addition to roses on display there is a plant sale with roses and rhodies and a raffle.

GUIDED MORNING STRETCH AND FLOW
10-11A This program will be at the Dyerville Overlook within Humboldt Redwoods State Park. Enjoy a revitalizing morning stretch overlooking the confluence of the main and south fork stems of the scenic Eel River. There is no better way to prepare for your day’s adventure in the redwoods! Set aside some time to time to stretch your muscles and move your body. Through this program participants will learn and practice techniques that will include a fusion of stretching, mobility and yoga exercises for all levels of experience.
