Humboldt has been stoked to get a break after the January that almost brought us to our knees – and February is ushering in a new vibe, with sunshine, warm winds bringing our next rain, and the feeling that we’re moving on with the year.

BIPOC PRESENCE IN THE CANNABIS INDUSTRY IN HUMBOLDT W/ THE GREEN STATS
3-6P BIPOC exclusive space. The Green Stats is hosting an interactive discussion around Black and Brown history in the industry, different market types, working with allies and more. Light refreshments provided, free merch and child friendly.
4-7P Come join us for the First Friday Market at Herb & Market 427 H St in Arcata, CA. Cam’s Pizza will be serving up slices in the parking lot, It’s Alive Kombucha will be providing beverages, DJ Goldylocks will be playing tunes, and we will have local artisans selling their wares alongside a handful of different farmers and cannabis brands featuring great deals on their products.

9:30A Jennifer Budwig, SVP/Chief Lending Officer of Redwood Capital Bank, will present a program titled “Financial Trends in this Economy” at the Humboldt branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW)’s Feb meeting. Social time and brunch begin at 9:30 a.m. with the discussion starting at 10:20 a.m. The cost is $24 with brunch or $9 with a beverage only. Community members are invited to attend and learn about local impacts of the current volatile economy.

11:30A-1P This lovely part of Eureka is lined with planters and you can help us keep them beautiful! We will provide all supplies to get the job done. This is a family friendly event, kids must have a parent/guardian present.
12-9P We our opening our doors this Saturday and will be open late during Arts Alive Eureka. @mykindesigns will have her watercolors displayed throughout the shop, @allisonbackman will be popped up with her naturally dyed + up-cycled garments, and @georgeruthsings will be performing in the evening. 2:30-3:30P Between 1884 and 1937, the company mill and lumber town of Falk thrived in what is now the Headwaters Forest Reserve. The town grew to 200 inhabitants and was an isolated community in the Elk River valley. Miriam Djakite is a dance master and Griot from Mali, West Africa, she is the lead singer in the African psychedelic rock band Orchestra gold based in the Bay area. Gordon Hellegers is a master Kora player and student of the great Malian Kora master Tumani Djibati. For two nights these amazing artists are coming together in Arcata to bring you the rich traditional sounds of West Africa.

BLACK HUMBOLDT BLACK LIBERATION MONTH RADIO TAKEOVER
Happening Mondays (5-6P) and Thursdays (6-8P) through February, Stream live online. Community-wide event for local Black artists and community, and all their favorite tunes.
Tuesday
6-7P Representatives from the Humboldt County Office of Education, Cal Poly Humboldt, College of the Redwoods, and California State Treasurer Fiona Ma and staff from her office, who will be on hand to answer questions and provide information on the California Kids Investment and Development Savings Program (CalKIDS). which aims to make college more accessible for millions of children in the state. Spanish language services will be available at the meeting. Participants are encouraged to pre-register for the event at its registration page on the HCOE website. Refreshments will be served to those who attend.

6:45-9P In this hands-on presentation, you’ll learn to make plush fluffy pom poms three different ways, and leave with your own custom cardboard templates to create warm fuzzies whenever you want. Bring your favorite pair of cloth/fiber scissors, and any yarn remnants you’d like to poof into pom pom projects. Bulk yarn and all other tools and materials will be provided. This is the February program of the Humboldt Handweaver’s and Spinner’s Guild.
8-9P (Also happening Fri & Sat) Love. Power. Fart Jokes. Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theatre’s Professional Training Program ensemble presents “A Night of Commedia,” a contemporary interpretation of the classic semi-improvised Italian masked comedy. Bring your friends, bring your family, but don’t bring your little ones – this show will be outrageous and filled with bodily humor.
