False Spring strikes again and Winter moves onward, with low temperatures, videos of snowfall on the coast, and a decided chill in the air wherever you go. If you haven’t seen a rainbow lately, then you’re probably not looking… And as the nor-cal snow pack builds, Humboldt is still out and about, eager to be in community, engage in local activities and live the good, green life that we have here.

2-3P Like redwoods? Like unpredictable weather? Like hiking and learning at the same time? Join us on a guided walk through Founders Grove Loop at Humboldt Redwoods State Park! Learn about the park’s cultural and natural history walk. Meet by the Founders Grove park restrooms on Dyerville Loop Road. Bring comfortable walking shoes, water, and maybe a rain jacket. Walks are 0.6 miles long, on an ADA trail, and take about 1 hour. Happening each Friday in February as well as March 10th.

5-8P The Eel River Watershed Improvement Group (ERWIG) is partnering with the Mad River Brewery and Maddy Rifka who works for the Yurok Tribe Wildlife Department and Sanctuary Forest to start a Science on Tap event series! This FREE monthly event will host impactful speakers, create a space for student/professional networking, as well as celebrate our beloved local breweries. 10A-6P Designed for actors and those interested in Shakespeare, this one-day workshop is an opportunity to dive into the power and presence that arises with fully embodying heightened language. We will explore voice and movement work to open the actor’s expressive range as well as techniques for personally connecting to the text. All participants will be asked to have a Shakespeare speech (ideally 10-14 lines) fully memorized to explore for the day of the workshop. While some experience acting is recommended, this workshop is open to all levels and no previous experience with Shakespeare is required. Follow the link for more details.

5-10P We are so excited to be offering a fireside family gathering, welcoming our village and your families. It will be a wonderful opportunity to bring our partners, children, and families together, deepening our connections through village culture. Our wonderful leader Bailey Locatelli will be sharing the traditional skill of hand drilling a coal, arrive at 5pm for this special share. This is a free gathering taking place at Moonstone Beach. KEMETIC YOGA FOR HEALING RACE-BASED STRESS AND TRAUMA
2-4P BIPOC exclusive space – This workshop will span about 2 hours, where I will explain the African origins of Kemet (Ancient Egypt), Kemetic Yoga, and explain how the world has been lead to believe that ancient Egypt was everything but Black, explore the implications of that, the healing that comes from retrieving our stolen legacy, and go through a full Kemetic Yoga session, potentially ending with a short practice of Yoga Nidra, then opening the space.
