12-9P Humboldt County Fair kicks off this week Starting 8/18/2022-8/28/2022 throughout the Following Week . Get your slice of pie, a visit with the cutest baby farm animal, rides for the kiddos and more for the whole family!
REDWOOD CURTAIN THEATER – THE CHILDREN
8P – A contemporary comic drama set on the seismically active, tsunami-eroded, albeit beautiful, rural coast of Angelsea, England in the environs of a compromised nuclear power plant. Does that sound a bit like our home? While the world outside is dealing with the aftermath of the disaster at the plant, married couple Hazel and Robin, nuclear physicists who worked at the now-failed plant, are visited by a former colleague who upsets the balance of their already precarious existence with both humourous and far-reaching effects. (Running through 8/20)

9A – Run the 10k+ or 2-mile trail through the redwood forest to honor Ebbert, a local who became a Navy SEAL, and raise money in his name. 707-822-7091

BRIDGEFEST AND FLYING SAUCER CONTEST
11A – 5P – 26th Annual BridgeFest Celebration! Grab your kids, Your friends, Your zany clothes and come to the wackiest event in Humboldt! Come out to Bridgeville for the Alien and Human Games, Live Music, Lots of Vendors, Homemade pies, a Wild Kidz Zone, a Big BBQ and the famous HUGE RAFFLE! Follow the Flags… And See You There! Festivities are from 11am to 5 pm, with music starting at 11am. Raffle Drawing starts at 4pm, still time to buy raffle tickets. Landing coordinates are the School Yard at Bridgeville School, on Kneeland Road (just past the old Bridge). This is a new temporary landing zone for the event this year. CREATIVE DANCE AND STORY TIME AT THE LIBRARY
12-1P Children ages 2 to 5 and their caregivers and siblings are invited to join the Humboldt County Library in exploring concepts of dance and musicality, trying out basic movement skills, and connecting dance to a story! At the Eureka Main Branch. Happening again on 9/17, 10/15, 11/19 and 12/17.
1-3P Join local poet/writer Jerry Martien on a nature writing experience in the Headwaters Education Center. You will join Jerry on the Elk River Trail 1/4 mile up from the trailhead at the Education Center. Jerry will give you writing prompts that will both connect you to the nature experience around you and the writer in you. RSVP if you plan on attending.
2P Tour with Leader Paul Johnson at the Arcata Marsh/Gearheart Marsh. Meet in the lobby of the Interpretive Center on South G Street for a 90-minute, rain-or-shine walk focusing on plants, ecology, and/or often unnoticed things at this wonderful bird sanctuary.

12-3P Join Xochiketzalli & her maestra K’iche Maya Curandera Nana Sebastiana in a 3 hr spiritual workshop on the Chol’Qij Mayan Calendar. The 1st half of the class will be a lecture on the many different Mayan Calendar systems and the 2nd half of the class will be more hands on discovering your own Mayan Astrology is this 260 day lunar calendar.
