10A-1P Workshops designed for nature-curious individuals interested in building their confidence to explore outdoors and learn nature observation basics. No experience is necessary, all workshops will be introductory level with friendly and welcoming instructors. All workshops are open to ages 14 and up. Snacks and supplies will be provided. Our Art & Nature series is perfect for those that want to slow down and tune into the wonders of nature. No previous art or outdoor experience is necessary for this three part series. Each workshop will cover beginning art techniques, an overview of supplies needed, and will incorporate time to practice and experiment with these new techniques. Participants may sign up for individual workshops or the entire series. 11A-4P To celebrate National Homebrew Day, Humboldt Homebrewers and Humboldt Beer Works will host a Big Brew Day event on May 6th. The event will include demonstrations of the brewing process. We encourage you to brew the official recipe yourself: “Nearly Nirvana Pale Ale”. Humboldt Homebrewers is a Dream Maker Project of the Ink People Center for the Arts, non-profit organization. People with regular commutes are encouraged to bike to work, but everyone traveling for any purpose is encouraged to ride a bike! SCOTIA LODGE 1919 FIRE EXCAVATION AND ARTIFACTS
6-8P Spend an evening at Scotia Lodge with Nick Angeloff, of the Humboldt Historical Society. Nick is an archeology professor at Cal Poly Humboldt and will be talking about an excavation he took part in behind the current Lodge. This dig uncovered remnants of the original Inn that was destroyed by a fire in 1919. He will also be showing some artifacts from the dig. It’s free to attend and all ages are welcome.
