9A -Ferndale California’s town-wide garage sale is back and bigger than ever! From Main Street to side streets, the entire Victorian Village takes part in this annual community yard sale the third weekend in September. More than 100 different locations will offer everything from antiques and collectibles to household items and tools to toys to clothing and more. Just look for the bright yellow signs that mark each location.

10A – 12P The Sanctuary, 1301 J St, Arcata RMC aims to provide high quality, fun, and professional figure drawing opportunities to artists locally and globally. RMC is a collective of models that facilitate a connection between the model and artist so that both may find a space to support their passion for artistic collaborations.
6P The Cal Poly Department of Art and Film and the Associated Students invite you to the 2022 Student Film Showcase. The evening will feature student films created primarily during the Spring 2022 semester and they will include fictional/narrative, documentary, and experimental works from both current students and recent graduates. The themes and content of the films will vary widely but the program will be entertaining, challenging, and horizon expanding.

7A This event is back after a two year pandemic-induced hiatus, and we’ve made a few changes that veterans will notice. The biggest change is that we’ve moved the event to September. A “skinny” version of the traditional event that offers two routes: the classic Tour of the Unknown Coast Century ride and the Avenue of the Giants 100K ride. Register online.

8:30A The C.A.P.E. Fund and The Betty Kwan Chinn Homeless Foundation are hosting the 2nd Annual Fore! The Community Golf Classic, to be held at The Eureka Municipal Golf Course, with a shotgun start Proceeds from this event will go to expand the capabilities of The Community Access Project for Eureka (C.A.P.E.), which provides access to quality of life programs and opportunities for all members of our community regardless of their living situation or income and The Betty Kwan Chinn Homeless Foundation, whose mission is to honor all of humanity

9-10:30A Part of Northcoast Environmental Center’s Coastal Cleanup Month. Join the City of Eureka for a cleanup at the Eureka Public Marina. The mission of the Eureka Community Services department is to provide for and enhance the quality of life and spirit of the community with a wide variety of recreational programs and services. ITALIAN FESTIVAL AND BOCCE TOURNAMENT
10A – The Eureka Sons of Italy Lodge is sponsoring a Bocce Tournament as part of the 16th annual Italian Festival. This event will be held at the Redwood Fields Complex at the east end of Fern street in Cutten. We are accepting entries for four person teams. Entries will be accepted on a first come basis until filled, limited to twenty teams. Schedule will be determined by number of teams* Every team will play at least two games. Entry fee of $15 per player or $60 per team which will be collected on the day of the tournament Prizes will be awarded winning teams. Food and drinks will be available as part of the festival. Spectators and players are encouraged to bring umbrellas and chairs. Bocce balls will be provided. Proceeds will go to the Lodge Pinochi and Stagnoli Scholarship Funds. 9A-11A Join Redwood Region Audubon Society’s Jim Clark and Humboldt County Publics Works Natural Resources Planning’s Bob Vogt for a free, two-hour tour of the McKay Community Forest. Come learn and provide input about the community forest plans for trails and access. We’ll also be checking out great spots to bird! The 1-2 mile tour starts at the top of the access road on Harris Street west of Hubbard Lane at 9A.

12-1:30P Kathryn Donahue, R.N. will give a talk entitled “The Future of Medicare”. Kathryn is a retired nurse and a healthcare activist. She’s a member of the California Alliance for Retired Americans (CARA), and Healthcare for All/Physicians for a National Health Program Humboldt (HCA/PNHP). Kathryn will be speaking to us about the implications of recent and possible changes to Medicare, explaining Medicare Advantage and the DCE-REACH program and how they are impacting original federal Medicare.

THE NATURAL HISTORY OF THE SEABIRDS OF TRINIDAD AND HUMBOLDT
7P Join Redwood Region Audubon Society for an in-person and virtual program presented by Dr. Dan Barton. Barton has observed a variety of change events – including extreme heat, eagle predation, raven harassment, and rising local sea levels – at colonies of seabirds around Humboldt Bay and Trinidad. Barton will share some of his observations, including aerial photo and video documentation of some of these events, largely through the lens of descriptive natural history. 7P Show & Tell (bring your fungal finds!) 7:30 – Club Business 7:45ish – Speaker Speaker Topic: Lichens of Horse Mountain A glimpse into the world of lichenology! This talk will cover a macrolichen inventory of the Horse Mountain Botanical Area, including tips and tricks for collecting and identifying lichens, as well as a discussion of lichen DNA barcoding.
