BLUE LAKE 90 MINUTE TRASH BASH
9-10:30A – This special 90 minute event is sponsored by Blue Lake Casino and Hotel and Blue Lake Rancheria . The event will focus on cleaning up trash and litter along roadsides, the banks of the Mad River, city parks, forests and other open spaces. We will meet at Blue Lake Casino parking area entrance near the gas station at 8:45 am to sign in. The cleanup will start at 9:00 am and it will end at 10:30am. COAST GUARD PLAZA BEAUTIFICATION
9-10:30A – September is Volunteer Month in Eureka! Join us every Saturday in September to beautify Eureka and celebrate our volunteers! On Saturday, September 3rd we will be beautifying Coast Guard Plaza located at the Foot of F st. on the Boardwalk. Help us pick up litter and refresh the planters with new flowers! All supplies are provided and all ages are welcome. Check out our other volunteer events on September 10, 17, and 24. 10A-3:30P The 8th annual Labor of Love Quilt Show will be happening in Shelter Cove on September 3, 2022. The show includes traditional, art and antique quilts. Quilts are displayed on balconies and in the Community Clubhouse. People are encouraged to vote for their favorite quilt and ribbons are awarded. In addition, a workshop led by quilting expert Laurel Anderson will be held on September 4 at a nominal cost of $35. We are eager to have more quilts in the show, Entry Forms for quilts are due in on August 20. A quilt will be raffled off. Sponsored by SCARF.
9-11A Join the Volunteer Trail Stewards for a cleanup of the Humboldt Bay Trail and South G St. This event is part of Coastal Cleanup Month and is coordinated by the Northcoast Environmental Center.
1-5P Heart of the Redwoods Community Hospice is proud to announce the 19th annual “Taste of the Cove”. Dinner features wild-caught fish, local farm-fresh vegetables, and delicious homemade desserts. Locally produced beer and wine will be available. Live entertainment will be provided by the SoHum Girls Band, Ray Bevitori and Friends, and Rock Stew. There will be activities for kids and a 50/50 raffle at this family friendly event. So, bring your friends and family, but please leave your dogs at home. Admission is $30 for adults, $10 for kids 6-12, children 5 and under are free. We’ll see you there!

WOMEN AND GIRLS BIRDWATCHING TRIP
6-8P Join Redwood Region Audubon Society for the monthly Women and Girls Birdwatching series. Trip leader, Janelle Chojnacki, will help you spice up a weekday evening with this free guided walk around the Arcata Marsh. We will likely observe many migratory species, including foraging swallows and swifts, warblers, flycatchers, and maybe some raptors getting a last meal before night. Evening walks always carry the possibility of viewing the plethora of night herons taking off from their diurnal roosts and seeing owls out and about! Bring binoculars and a scope if you have one.
